It has been SO much fun to be a part of this incredibly talented community with such a wealth of experience, encouragement, and creativity. I'd love to share with you a few of the incredible "experiments" made by Meander Members over the past year. It has been such a pleasure and privilege to explore lots of different quilt-making styles alongside these quilters, get a front-row seat to all their experiments, and watch their growth. ![]() We know that there is no such thing as "mistakes", just learning experiences.Īnd we continuously place ourselves just outside of our own comfort zone because we know that is where we grow. This would later characterize the civil rights movement’s fight for freedom and equality. It’s the home of one of the most defining battles of the American Civil War, the Battle of Vicksburg, where Union forces gained control of the entire Mississippi River and cut the Western states off. From Southern comfort food to historic sites, lively music and festivals, Mississippi’s hospitality is an experience that truly embodies the heart and soul of the state. In fact, the very first restaurant we popped into, The Trusty Diner in Water Valley, was sharing our visit on their social media before we were! The people of Mississippi are renowned for their genuine kindness and warmth, and they are always eager to share their rich culture and history with visitors. ![]() Quiltfolk found a lot of it while on the road for Issue 26. Line up the FMQ ruler foot with the starting position of the template (on the left side.) Now, without turning your sewing machine on, start. Then place the Dabline Template Grip and Meander Template onto the quilt sandwich. It’s no secret that Mississippi is known for its legendary hospitality it is a place where visitors are welcomed with open arms and made to feel like family. Take a practice quilt sandwich, at least 10x12, and bring it to your sewing machine.
